In Bodegas Puelles we believe that great wines have to start from the vineyard. So for us, viticulture is a collaboration with the nature, a balance between our passion for excellence and our trust in the natural expression of the soil, climate and grape variety.
Vines have been grown in Ábalos for many, many centuries. There are still ancient stone wine presses in the fields, whose origins are unknown. The Bodegas Puelles vineyard, principally of Tempranillo, aims at obtaining moderate yields using organic growing practices with respect the environment and give the fruit greater quality, with no use of chemical fertilisers or weedkilers and using only such treatments are as absolutely neccessary.
In one of the best viticolas zones of the argillaceous-calcareo ground world, our vineyards extend from levels of 490 to 610 meters over the level of the sea.
Its direction safe from the Mountain range of Cantabria with waved lands that descend until the proximities of the Ebro river does that receives the perfect position of the sun and appropiated ventilation with predominance of winds of the north, contributing to wines an Atlantic influece.
